He Tangata Raukotahi

Tangata Raukotahi was adopted in 2005 be Ngā Ngaru Hauora o Aotearoa as an organisation approach consistent to Oranga Māori and is exemplified in the "Strategic Kaupapa and Tikanga Māori Planning and Assess Framework document (2005)

He Tangata Raukotahi encapsulates the essence of the Māori World View of Oranga (Wellbeing) through;

 

Mana Tangata (Power attained from one's leadership)

Mana Tupuna (Power through descent)

Mana Ao Turoa (Light of the new day)

Mana Whenua (Power from the land)

Mana Atua (Sacred Spiritual Power)

Mana Moana (Power from the sea)

and these seven key principles;

Whanaungatanga (Relationship, sense of family connection)

Ukaipotanga (Origin, source of sustenance)

Manaakitanga (Hospitality, Kindness)

Rangatiratanga (Sovereignty)

Pukengatanga (Be Skilled)

Wairuatanga (Spirituality)

Kotahitanga (Unity)
