ABOUT NGA NGARU HAUORA O AOTEAROA
Background
In 1996 at Waitangi, the Maori Health Providers across Aotearoa called for the formation of their own national organisation.
From Putiki Marae in 1997 to the inaugural AGM in Rotorua in 1998, Nga Ngaru Hauora O Aotearoa Incorporated was established. The journey “to advance Maori aspirations of whanau, hapu, Iwi/Pan Tribal providers and to be a network of information to Hauora Maori” began.
Te Kaunihera Kuia/Kaumatua and an Executive Committee were elected by the membership at the inaugural AGM. The Executive Committee set the strategic direction of Nga Ngaru Hauora O Aotearoa and manages the performance of the management unit, on behalf of all members.
A small management unit co-ordinates and networks all activities for Nga Ngaru Hauora O Aotearoa and provides regular reports to the Executive Committee and the website is to provide ease of access to regular panui and topical information exchanges for members.
A strategic/business plan guides the operations of Nga Ngaru Hauora O Aotearoa. This is based on the constitutional objectives and all planning actively seeks to advance these.
